Tradition YCAC claim silverware in Tradition HKFC 10s

All happy in Happy Valley as RKS Legal Samurai Warriors win Women’s Competition


HONG KONG, 30 March 2023 – The 2023 Tradition HKFC 10s was won in spectacular style by Tradition YCAC at Hong Kong Football Club this afternoon with the tourists overcoming Samurai RFC Warriors 7-0 to get their hands on the Burgess - Wootten Cup for the second time in the tournament’s 35-year history.


In the Women’s competition, the inaugural Cup was won by RKS Legal Samurai Warriors following their 14-12 victory over Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix.

Tradition YCAC captain, Alex Smith said:

“It was a bit of a battle in that final – 7-0 – shows there were two good teams out there. I think we saw some quality rugby out there, The boys dug deep right till the end. It was a great final, great showcase here for Hong Kong, and great to be back here having the 10s back on.”

RKS Legal Samurai Warriors captain, Tamara Taylor, said:

“What a final! To be that close; the Tokyo team were absolutely awesome. As you can see from the girls, they’re beside themselves excited. It’s amazing that we’ve been a part of the first women’s 10s tournament and we’re so proud to represent Samurai and to be here in Hong Kong, thank you so much for having us.”

The 2023 Tradition HKFC 10s marks the 35th edition of Hong Kong Football Club’s flagship rugby event. Billed the World’s Best tens, the tournament once again blends emerging talent with international experience in a two-day festival of fast-running, hard-hitting rugby. The competition saw 12 men’s and five women’s teams battle it out on pitch, as the international rugby world once again turns its attention to Hong Kong’s celebrated Happy Valley.




Tradition, a world leader in professional brokerage activities, has signed a three-year title sponsor agreement starting for the 2023 tournament, while other sponsors include Natixis (Gold Sponsor), AIA, Allied World, Samurai, Taikoo Place and Mourant (Silver Sponsors).
