香港欖球總會欣然宣布男子七人欖球隊過去15年，第11次獲「香港最佳運動隊伍」殊榮
HKRU MEN’S SEVENS TEAM CELEBRATE WINNING THEIR 11TH CATHAY SPORTS STARS TEAM AWARD
[香港, 2023年4月18日] 今晚，中國香港男子七人欖球代表隊獲中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會頒發的「國泰2022年度香港傑出運動員選舉」的「香港最佳運動隊伍」獎項。這是中國香港男子七人欖球代表隊在過去15年，第11次獲此殊榮。
香港欖球總會行政總裁麥偉彬出席了周二晚上在香港會議展覽中心舉行的頒獎典禮。麥偉彬表示，「看到我們的隊員在2022年持續不斷地取得高水準的勝利，並獲得體育界的認可，我深感榮幸。我們迎來了激動人心的2023年，『挑戰者系列賽』、奧運會資格賽和亞運會都在我們的行程中。我們期待中國香港男子七人欖球代表隊接下來的表現。」
2022年賽季見證了欖球運動的精彩回歸，男子七人欖球隊積極參與了多項錦標賽 ——2022年世界盃七人欖球賽、亞洲七人欖球系列賽，以及享譽全球的國泰/滙豐香港七人欖球賽的成功舉辦。
世界盃七人欖球賽和囯泰/滙豐香港七人欖球賽對於中國香港男子七人欖球代表隊是絕佳的表現機會，讓他們在高手如林的高水平賽事中展示實力。
中國香港男子七人欖球隊在去年的亞洲七人欖球系列賽中表現出色，在泰國、韓國和阿聯酋取得了三場比賽的勝利，摘取了金牌和2023年世界七人欖球挑戰賽的席位。
2023年世界七人制橄榄球挑战赛为进入2024年七站汇丰世界七人制橄榄球系列赛提供了一条资格通道。中国香港男子七人制橄榄球队将于2023年4月21-23日和4月28-30日在南非斯泰伦博斯的马科特体育场参加两场综合比赛（男子和女子）。

[Hong Kong, 18 April 2023]: The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) awarded Hong Kong, China Men’s Sevens team the 2022 Hong Kong Stars Award for the Team Only Sport category this evening. This was the 11th time that Hong Kong, China Men’s Sevens team have won the award in the past 15 years - an incredible achievement.
Hong Kong Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer Robbie McRobbie attended the awards ceremony at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday evening and was thrilled with the result. “It’s fantastic to see our athletes continue to achieve a high degree of success and be recognised for their achievements in 2022. We’ve got a hugely exciting year ahead with the Challenger Series, Olympic Qualification tournament, and the Asian Games in the upcoming calendar – we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for this team”.
The 2022 season witnessed the return of excitement to the rugby sphere, with the Men’s Sevens team having multiple involvements across key tournaments – the 2022 Sevens World Cup, Asia Rugby Sevens Series, and the return of the iconic Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.
The Sevens World Cup and Cathay/ HSBC Hong Kong Sevens was a great opportunity for the Hong Kong, China Men’s team to showcase their skills against the best of the best.
Hong Kong, China Men’s Sevens team put in outstanding performances in the Asia Rugby Men’s Sevens Series last year, coming away with three tournament victories in Thailand, Korea and UAE to secure gold and a place in the 2023 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series.
The 2023 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series provides a qualification pathway into the seven-leg HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in 2024. Hong Kong, China Men’s Sevens team will compete in two combined (men’s and women’s) tournaments on 21-23 April and 28-30 April 2023 in the Markotter Stadium in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
