Summary of 8 October Happenings

（2023年10月8日，香港）是日為「保誠香港網球公開賽2023」第二天舉行資格賽，受颱風小犬影響，原定於今日舉行的「保誠網球慈善挑戰賽」、「網球童樂日」及所有賽事都已取消，最後一輪資格賽將延期至明日（10月9日）上午11時開賽，而單打及雙打正賽將於明日下午3時或之後開賽。

賽會於同日上午舉行了「保誠香港網球公開賽2023」單打正賽抽籤，抽籤結果如下：

· 一號種子為前世界排名第一位的艾莎蓮嘉（Victoria Azarenka），她將碰上「美國網球公開賽2021」女單亞軍費蘭迪絲（Leylah Fernandez）；

· 二號種子為「法國網球公開賽2023」四強球手夏達馬雅（Beatriz Haddad Maia），她將與現時世界排名第86位的莎絲洛域治（Aliaksandra Sasnovich）進行對決；

· 三號種子為現時世界排名第29位的瑪天絲（Elise Mertens），她將與資格賽晉級的球手較量；

· 四號種子為現時世界排名第37位王欣瑜（Wang Xinyu），她將與艾雲妮絲恩（Elina Avanesyan）對上；

· 第一輪其中一場焦點賽事就是由本港首席女子網球手張瑋桓硬碰澳籍華裔球手韓天遇；

· 而本港次席女子網球手王康怡則會與資格賽晉級的球手交手，爭取出線機會。

· 本地女子網球手胡可澄將對上現時世界排名第55位的蘇莉比絲（Sara Sorribes Tormo）。

(8 October 2023, HONG KONG) Today was scheduled to be final round of qualifying matches, however due to adverse weather conditions brought by typhoon Koinu, all matches were postponed to tomorrow (9 October). Other scheduled events such as the Prudential Charity Tennis Challenge and Kids’ Day were also cancelled. The final round of qualifying is scheduled to resume at 11am tomorrow morning, while main draw matches are scheduled to start at not before 3:00pm tomorrow.

The PHKTO2023 Draw Ceremony was held this morning and highlights of the draw include:

· Former world No.1 & No.1 seed Victoria Azarenka drawn to face 2021 US Open singles finalist Leylah Fernandez

· 2023 Roland Garros singles semi-finalist & No.2 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia to play World No. 86 Aliaksandra Sasnovich

· World No.29 & No.3 seed Elise Mertens to face a qualifier

· World No. 37 & No.4 seed Wang Xinyu to play Elina Avanesyan

· Hong Kong’s Eudice Chong to take on Australia’s Priscilla Hon

· Cody Wong to play against a qualifier

· Tiffany Wu to face Spain’s world No.55 Sara Sorribes Tormo.
